Kent Leyde

Mr. Leyde is the Managing Member of Cascade Medical Devices. He has more than 25 years of experience in the medical device field, working in a variety of roles including Chief Technical Officer, project manager, and engineer. Much of this work has been performed in the context of startup organizations, where a typical program cycle includes opportunity assessment, concept development, planning, budgeting, fund-raising, organization building, product development, manufacturing transfer, and product launch.

Mr. Leyde has a diverse technical background founded on his education in electrical engineering. He has particular experience with neuro devices – external and implantable devices used to diagnose and treat neurological disease. His areas of technical competency span a wide range including: acquisition of small physiological signals in noisy environments, signal processing and algorithm development, energy transfer circuits needed to supply power to implanted devices, RF communication and telemetry systems, and the control and generation of therapy waveforms from those used to control small nerves, up to and including high-energy waveforms used to defibrillate the heart.

Mr. Leyde’s understanding of medical device regulations and of key reference standards comes from many years of application on real-world products and many development cycles. He knows how to implement systems of design controls that are effective, efficient, and compliant. Mr. Leyde is listed as inventor on more than 60 patents and patent applications.
